UPOU Welcomes new University Registrar
The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) welcomes Assistant Professor Rita Cui-Ramos, RN, MAN as the new University Registrar. Her appointment runs from 6 February 2020 to 5 February 2021.
Assistant Professor Ramos is a PhD candidate in Educational Psychology from the De La Salle University Manila. She holds a Master of Arts in Nursing from UP Manila, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from San Juan De Dios College of Nursing. She started with UPOU in 2006 as a Senior Lecturer/Clinical Preceptor in the Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN) program. Since 2010, she has been an Assistant Professor with the University. Asst. Prof. Ramos was also appointed MAN Program Chair (2013 to 2016) and Secretary to the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (2016 to 2020). She was appointed Program Development Associate for the Office of the University Registrar from 6 January 2020 to 5 February 2020.
Asst. Prof. Ramos has published several papers on nursing interventions, academic learning, and student performance. She has also presented research papers in national and international conferences. Aside from teaching and research, Asst. Prof. Ramos undertook public service and extension activities — of which “Aruga sa Batang may Cancer Initiative” is noteworthy.
Since 2018, Aruga sa Batang may Cancer Initiative is a project implemented by the University of the Philippines Open University and funded by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Health Research and Development dedicated to provide patients, caregivers and other healthcare providers an access to information related to pediatric palliative care. Asst. Prof. Ramos is one of the project leaders of the said project.
The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) is responsible for a variety of services for its constituents. These include student admission and registration; grade reporting, transcript of records generation; and the maintenance of academic records. The OUR also provides certification of student enrollment and earned units/degrees, development of the academic calendar and management of the Academic Information Management System (AIMS). It also provides assistance and acts as Secretariat to the University and Executive Committee meetings. The OUR will continuously strive to provide better service by improving its existing systems through the development of more online services and applications. At present, the OUR is composed of the Admissions Section, Registration Section; Student Records and Appraisal Section; and Electronic and Data Processing Section. (JABelegal)
