Admission Policy

No student shall be denied admission to the University System by reason of age, sex, nationality, religious belief, or political affiliations [from Art. 332 of the UP System Code].

Any person seeking admission into a program must satisfy the minimum admission requirements specified in the program applied for. Relevant working experience may be considered in lieu of the minimum admission requirements by the Program Admission Committee [approved during the 1st University Council Meeting of the University of the Philippines Open University].

A student may transfer to the UPOU from another constituent university or vice-versa subject to his/her fulfillment of the requirements for admission as a transfer student by the university to which he/she is transferring [approved during the 1st University Council Meeting of the University of the Philippines Open University].

No person who has not duly matriculated may be admitted to the classes. In exceptional cases, the University Registrar may, on the recommendation of the Dean or Director concerned, authorize the admission of a visitor to a class for not more than five (5) sessions. All other applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements specified in the program may be admitted as non-degree students [approved during the 1st University Council Meeting of the University of the Philippines Open University].
